In LAWSAN, there are three categories of membership
A provisional membership status is granted to persons duly admitted and matriculated to pursue an LLB awarding programme in any Faculty of Law in Nigeria that is yet to graduate a set of law students.
A full member of the association is a person who has been duly admitted and matriculated to pursue an LLB awarding programme in ANY Faculty of Law in Nigeria. Provided that such programme in that faculty is recognized by the Council of Legal Education and/or the National University Commission and such faculty must have graduated a set of law students.

The LAWSAN Senate at any of its sitting during the National Convention/Summit can confer life membership on outgoing and former member(s) of LAWSAN who have rendered distinguished services to LAWSAN on the recommendation of the National Executive Council and have the right to issue a certificate to such deserving persons.
